June 4, 2008

ORLANDO, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - As the UCF women's soccer program looks ahead to the 2008 season, it received some promising news recently. Soccer Buzz released its recruiting rankings and placed the Knights at No. 39 in the country, No. 8 in the Southeast Region and No. 1 in Conference USA.

"We are very excited about being honored as the top 2008 incoming recruiting class in Conference USA," said associate head coach and recruiting coordinator Colby Hale. "We would like to thank Keith Tribble, Harry Myers, Sarah Hill, Leah Schoen, the players and all those involved in the recruiting process for their hard work. It is always a team effort and we couldn't be more excited about the group of young ladies that will be joining us this fall."

UCF signed five student-athletes to national letters of intent and welcomed two more additions on Feb. 6. Stephanie Gagnon (Longwood, Fla./Orangewood Christian), Stacie Hubbard (Jacksonville, Fla./Mandarin), Katie Jackson (Satellite Beach, Fla./Satellite), Kaci Kratch (Austin, Texas/Bowie) and Andrea Rodrigues (St. Petersburg, Fla./St. Petersburg), along with University of Maryland transfer Emily Maynard (Munster, Ind./The Latin School of Chicago) and Heather Dooley (Pembroke Pines, Fla./American Heritage), are all set to join UCF this season.

The No. 8 regional ranking tied a school record, while the Knights jumped to No. 39 after last year's mark of No. 67. In C-USA, affiliate member Colorado College was second at No. 57 in the country with No. 65 Memphis rounding out the top three.

The 2008 soccer campaign is scheduled to begin in late August. The Knights' full slate of matches will be released at a later time.
