ORLANDO, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - UCF director of athletics and executive vice president Keith R. Tribble announced Monday that Devon Thomas has been hired as the Knights' assistant athletics director for sports marketing. Thomas will oversee the marketing and promotional activities for UCF Athletics.
Thomas comes to UCF after spending four years at Idaho, where he operated as the director of marketing and licensing the past two years. At Idaho, Thomas developed and executed strategic marketing plans for the Vandals' 16 Division I sports.
"We are extremely excited to add someone with Devon's experience in collegiate sports marketing to the UCF Athletics family," said Tribble. "I am confident that Devon will have a positive impact on the continued success and growth of UCF's marketing initiatives as we strive to become a program of national prominence."
While at Idaho, Thomas served as the athletic department's liaison with multimedia rightsholder Learfield Sports and web site host JumpTV. His responsibilities also included the oversight of collegiate licensing, the spirit squad and the department's courtesy car program. Thomas originally joined the Idaho staff in August 2004 as the assistant marketing director.
Thomas served as the Western Athletic Conference representative to the National Association of Collegiate Marketing Administrators and was recently elected to serve on NACMA's Board of Directors.
Prior to Idaho, Thomas spent two years at Louisville as a member of the Cardinal Athletic Fund Staff. As a development/marketing coordinator, he spearheaded many of Louisville's former student-athlete initiatives.
A native of Jacksonville, Fla., Thomas is a former student-athlete and a 2003 graduate of Louisville.
