June 25, 2008

ORLANDO, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - Brian Pope, who played for the UCF men's soccer team from 2006-07, has been suiting up for the Harrisburg City Islanders of the United Soccer League Second Division this summer. The former Knights' goalkeeper recently earned his first start, and has helped the squad to a 4-1-6 record so far.

"We are very proud of Brian and how he was able to recover from major shoulder surgery after his UCF career," said UCF head coach Bryan Cunningham. "We hope he has a ton of success with the City Islanders and the rest of the season."

Pope made three saves, as well as one stop in a shootout, while starting against Crystal Palace Baltimore in the Lamar Hunt U.S Open Cup Second Round Tuesday in Harrisburg, Pa. The performance was highlighted in The Patriot News recap, which can be found here.
