ORLANDO, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - Incoming freshman Joe Delinks (Falmouth, Mass./Falmouth) of the UCF men's tennis team recently captured the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association individual championship. Delinks, who will join the Knights in the fall, finished the 2008 campaign with a 31-0 mark.
Playing at Clark University in Worcester, Delinks won the title defeating Longmeadow's Matt Himmelsbach, 6-3, 6-2. He also guided Falmouth to the Massachusetts Division I South final.
Delinks recently garnered his third-straight all-scholastic honor from the Boston Herald. The Boston Globe also named him to its all-scholastic squad. He concluded his high school career with a 72-0 singles mark.
This upcoming season, Delinks will be one of two freshmen on head coach Bobby Cashman's UCF squad. The Knights went 12-9 in 2008 and advanced to the Conference USA Championship semifinals in April.
