IRVING, Texas (www.ucfathletics.com) - Conference USA Commissioner Britton Banowsky named the 11 recipients of the league's postgraduate scholarship awards Monday and Shelly Frick of the UCF softball team garnered one of the awards. The conference annually presents the $4,000 postgraduate scholarship awards to graduates as selected by the faculty athletics representatives from each league school.
Frick helped the Knights to the 2008 C-USA Championship title and a berth in the NCAA Championship. The Jacksonville native saw time in 19 games as a designated hitter. The finance major was named to the Dean's List, the C-USA Commissioner's Academic Honor, the National Association of Collegiate Scholars and the President's Leadership Council. Frick also served as the co-president of the UCF Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.
Frick plans on continuing her studies at UCF and will pursue a master's in business administration.
A year ago, former UCF football player Dan Veenstra was awarded a postgraduate scholarship from C-USA.
