ORLANDO, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - UCF men's golfers are continuing to excel this summer. Several Knights are competing and shining in amateur events across the country.
Senior Greg Forest (Palm City, Fla./Martin County) has been invited to participate in the prestigious Northeast Amateur, which begins on Wednesday in Rhode Island. As a junior in 2007-08, Forest helped the Knights to the NCAA West Regional and earned a spot on the All-Conference USA First Team.
Junior Kyle Cobb (Tallahassee, Fla./Leon) recently qualified for the Florida State Amateur Championship by carding a one-over 73 at the Southwood Country Club in Tallahassee. Cobb will be one of several Knights competing at the amateur championship, which begins on Thursday in Tequesta. He appeared in three tournaments for UCF head coach Nick Clinard this past season.
Competing at the American Junior Golf Association FootJoy Invitational in Greensboro, N.C., incoming freshman Blayne Barber (Lake City, Fla.) tied for 12th. Barber signed a National Letter of Intent with the Knights in the fall.
