Orlando, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - The Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) announced the 2008 Division I Pocock All-America Team earlier this week, with UCF rower Krystina Sarff earning a place on the All-America First Team. The honor is the second-consecutive for the senior after earning the distinction in 2007.
The All-America award recognizes outstanding performances of individual rowers and coxswains at NCAA DI institutions.
In order to be nominated for the prestigious postseason award a student-athlete must have rowed at least 75 percent of the season's races in the varsity boat.
All-American athletes are selected from those athletes already named First Team All-Region. Criteria considered for selection include boat performance, nomination rank, coach's comments, individual achievements, and 2k erg score.
Sarff, who was also named to the All-South Region first team in May, has earned a seat in the varsity 8+ boat in every competition for four years and will begin training with the United States national team this summer.
