ORLANDO, Fla. (www.ucfathetics.com) - In 2010, when Tony Davis takes the floor as a senior at the Conference USA Championship, the forward and his UCF teammates will be playing in a new location. Last week, the league's board of directors announced that the conference championship will be held in Tulsa, Okla., in 2010.
In UCF's three campaigns in C-USA, the league championship has been played at the FedEx Forum in Memphis, Tenn. The 2009 event is also slated for Memphis.
When UCF competes at the 2010 event, it will mark the first time in seven years that the Knights' league championship event is not being contested in Tennessee. Prior to moving to C-USA, UCF won a pair of Atlantic Sun Championship titles in Nashville, Tenn.
The last time that the Knights participated in a league event outside of Tennessee was in 2003, when Georgia State hosted the A-Sun Championship in Atlanta.
Since C-USA's inception in 1996, the league championship has been held in five cities: Memphis, St. Louis, Mo., Cincinnati, Ohio, Birmingham, Ala., and Louisville, Ky.
UCF has played at Tulsa twice since both programs joined the league in 2005. The Knights should also play the Golden Hurricane in Oklahoma in 2008-09.
The C-USA Championship will be held at the BOK Center in downtown Tulsa. The $178 million venue will be completed this fall.
