ORLANDO, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - UCF's 2008 women's tennis recruiting class was recently recognized as the sixth-best mid-major class in the nation by TennisRecruiting.net. Head coach Stephanie Nickitas' recruiting class consists of Christy Core, Alexis Rodriguez and Andrea Yacaman.
All three players signed National Letters of Intent with the Knights in the fall. Core hails from Charlotte, N.C., while Rodriguez resides in Boca Raton, Fla. Yacaman is a native of Colombia. All three players will be eligible to compete for the Knights this fall.
BYU was first in the TennisRecruiting.net rankings, followed by Boston University and St. Mary's (Calif.). UCF was one of two Conference USA programs in the top 10, joining Tulane.
In Nickitas' first campaign at UCF in 2008, the Knights won 12 matches, including a victory over Memphis to open the C-USA Championship.
