Cromwell Returns to U.S. Soccer U-20 Team Coaching Staff to Prepare for Mexico

June 4, 2008

ORLANDO, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - Having already made trips to California and South Carolina for training camps, UCF women's soccer head coach Amanda Cromwell is now set to help guide the United States Under-20 Team to a possible berth at the World Cup in Chile from Nov. 19-Dec. 7. Cromwell rejoins the U.S. for a trip to Mexico and CONCACAF qualifying June 17-28.

The leader of the Knights has helped U.S. head coach Tony DiCicco form this year's team through each of the training sessions, and the Americans now are looking for one of three CONCACAF berths (Confederation of North, Central American and Caribbean Association Football) to the World Cup.

The United States will journey to Puebla, Mexico, to face off with host Mexico, Canada, Costa Rica, Cuba, Jamaica, Nicaragua and Trinidad & Tobago for those berths. The U.S. is slated to be joined by Cuba, Mexico and Trinidad & Tobago in Group A.

In the previous edition of the CONCACAF women's U-20 championship in 2006, the United States defeated Canada, 3-2, to bring home first place.
