Snapp Garners ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District Honors

May 8, 2008

Houston, Texas (www.ucfathletics.com) - A day after learning that she made the Conference USA All-Academic Team, senior Cat Snapp (Niceville, Fla.) was informed that she was selected as a member of the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District III Second Team. The catcher, who holds a 3.81 cumulative GPA is pursuing a degree in Art.

Snapp was one of four student-athletes from the state of Florida to make the 12-member all-district second team and the lone Knight to make the squad.

The senior received the C-USA Commissioner's Academic Medal in 2006, 2007 and 2008, while also making the 2005 Atlantic Sun Conference All-Academic Team her freshman year. Snapp was named the 2008 UCF Softball Scholar-Athlete at the first annual All-Sports Banquet held in April and, as one of the Knights' starting catchers, she ranks in the UCF all-time top-10 in 10 different categories, including at-bats, sacrifice flies, sacrifice hits, fielding percentage, putouts, games played and games started. She holds the top spot in times hit by a pitch and ties for the top spot with 27 base runners thrown out.

Snapp's honor marks the fifth time in program history that a Knight has earned ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District III honors. Stephanie Best was a first-team pick in 2003 and 2004 and was selected to the second team in 2005, while Kacie Feaster was a first team selection last season.

UCF will face the winner of No. 3 Tulsa and No. 6 UTEP in the semi-final round of the C-USA Softball Championship Friday at 3 p.m. EST.

The Knights look to clinch a spot in the NCAA Tournament when they compete for the Conference USA Softball Championship title May 8-10 at Houston. For tickets, visit c-usa.org.
