Kime Named Conference USA Co-Pitcher of the Week

Orlando, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - After helping her team secure the No. 2 seed heading into the Conference USA Softball Championship May 8-10, UCF senior Allison Kime (Brandon, Fla.) was named the C-USA Co-Pitcher of the Week league officials announced Monday. The honor is the third for the hurler this season (3/24, 4/21) and the eighth of her career.

Kime appeared in all four games last week, posting a 3-1 record. The senior threw all three games in the series with Southern Miss, including two complete-games and one game in relief.

In her first start against the Lady Eagles, Kime recorded 12 strikeouts and allowed only three hits. With her third strikeout of the contest, Kime recorded her 300th strikeout of the season and finished the game with her 12th double-digit strikeout mark of the season.

In the series finale, Kime held Southern Miss scoreless for her 12th shutout of the season, while allowing only three hits and striking out nine batters.

In the non-conference contest at Bethune-Cookman, Kime tied her season-high strikeout mark with 15, while also tying her career and the UCF program record for strikeouts in seven innings of work. Kime now has 319 K's on the season.

The senior shares this week's honor with Houston's Angel Shamblin.

Kime and the No. 2 Knights will face-off with No. 7 Southern Miss Thursday at 1 p.m. EST in the opening round of the Conference USA Softball Championship in Houston, Texas.
