ESPN.com "Face of the Program"
ORLANDO, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - Who would you choose to be the face of the UCF football program? ESPN.com has asked its readers to go onto their web site and voice their opinions on who they believe is the face of their favorite college football program.
Even though the Knights have only been playing in Division I-A since 1996, there is a wide selection of great players and coaches to choose from to be the "Face of The Program." Running back Kevin Smith, quarterback Daunte Culpepper, cornerback Asante Samual, wide receiver Brandon Marshall and coach George O'Leary are some of the names that come to mind when putting a face to UCF football.
How do you choose a "Face of The Program?" Is it through personal statistics and records? Is it through collegiate accolades or professional success? Is it a coach who is taking UCF football to the next level? Is it a certain last second play or 80-yard run that defines the program?
In 2007, UCF went 10-4, won the Conference USA Championship and played in the AutoZone Liberty Bowl in Memphis, Tenn. The Knights open up their 2008 campaign on Aug. 30 in Bright House Networks Stadium, hosting South Carolina State.
