UCF Softball Receives Program-Record 14 Votes in USA Today/NFCA Poll

Orlando, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - After winning the Conference USA Championship title Saturday at No. 9 Houston, the UCF softball team continued to receive national recognition Tuesday, garnering a program-record 14 votes in the USA Today/NFCA Division I Top-25 Poll. The record number of votes places the Knights at No. 29 in the nation.

The votes mark the seventh time this season, and the sixth straight, that the Knights have received at least one vote in the poll, receiving five votes the past two weeks, nine votes April 22, seven votes on April 8 after defeating No. 9 Houston for the first time, two votes on April 15, and also garnering a single vote in the poll on March 25.

The Black and Gold is 46-18 on the season and concluded their regular-season league schedule as the No. 2 seed with a 16-7 clip. It has won 28 of its last 32 games, while holding down a 13-game winning streak from March 15-April 2. The Knights have defeated two teams ranked in this week's USA Today/NFCA poll, No. 10 Houston twice and No. 18 Long Beach State, while also facing No. 6 Michigan.

The Knights will face in-state rival, USF Friday in the opening round of the NCAA Regional Tournament in Gainesville, Fla.
