IRVING, Texas (www.ucfathletics.com) - After recording a solid sophomore campaign, Johan Beigart (Vaxjo, Sweden) of the UCF men's tennis team was honored on Tuesday, earning a spot on the All-Conference USA Second Team. Beigart also garnered all-conference second team honors in 2007.
Beigart played at the top of the lineup for the Knights this past season. He recorded three victories at No. 1 and had a 4-0 record at the No. 3 position.
During the year, he posted wins over foes from nationally-ranked schools on two occasions. Beigart also earned two victories at No. 1 at the C-USA Shootout in Hattiesburg, Miss. He concluded the year by winning five of his last eight matches.
Head coaches from C-USA schools selected the all-conference squads.
The Knights have had an all-league selection in all three of their campaigns in C-USA. In the last seven years, UCF players have garnered all-conference honors on 11 occasions for head coach Bobby Cashman.
