April 23, 2008

Orlando, Fla. (www.UCFAthletics.com) - A pair of UCF football players were honored on Wednesday as officials from NationalChamps.net released its preseason All-America teams for the 2008 season. Senior cornerback Joe Burnett was named to the website's third team, while classmate Pat Brown was an honorable mention honoree.

Burnett and Brown were both first-team All-Conference USA selections by the league's media following the Knights run to the C-USA Championship in 2007.

Burnett enters his final season at UCF ranked second on the school's career charts for interceptions with 12, which is the second highest total among active players in the NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision. The Eustis, Fla., native is also the active career leader among punt returners with three touchdown returns and 926 yards (13.2 ypr).

Brown has started 38 consecutive games at left tackle for the Knights, which is the most of any player at his position in the FBS. Last season, Brown helped the UCF offense set school records for points scored (501) and rushing yards (3,287).

The Knights will open the 2008 season with a home game vs. South Carolina on Aug. 30.
