Orlando, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - Following a Conference USA-series sweep of Memphis last weekend, the UCF softball team continued to receive national recognition Tuesday, garnering nine votes in the USA Today/NFCA Division I Top-25 Poll. The votes mark the fourth time this season the Knights have received votes in the poll, as they received seven votes in the April 8 poll, two votes last week and a vote in the March 25 poll during its season-high 13-game winning streak.
The Black and Gold is 39-17 on the season and hold down the second-place slot in C-USA with a 14-6 clip. It has won 25 of its last 30 games, while holding down a 13-game winning streak from March 15-April 2. The Knights have defeated three teams ranked in this week's USA Today/NFCA poll, No. 9 Houston, No. 17 Long Beach State and No. 25 Iowa, while also facing No. 6 Michigan and No. 24 Hawaii.
The Black and Gold also earned a vote in the Ultimate College Softball (UCS) Top-25 Poll released Tuesday. The nod is the second for the Knights in the poll, voted on by selected collegiate coaches and UCS posters.
