Cobb, Forest Lead Knights at C-USA Championship

TEXARKANA, Ark. (www.ucfathletics.com) - The UCF men's golf team opened play at the Conference USA Championship on Sunday and the 19th-ranked Knights are in fifth after one round of play at the Texarkana Country Club. All five UCF golfers are in the top-25 of the individual standings, led by junior Greg Forest (Palm City, Fla./Martin County) and freshman Kyle Cobb (Tallahassee, Fla./Leon), who are tied for 11th.

Play at the three-day, three-round tournament will continue on Monday. Eleven C-USA squads are in action at the event.

The Knights recorded a one-under 287 team score. The squad is one stroke behind fourth-place Southern Miss. Memphis leads the event at 277 (-11).

Cobb and Forest both recorded a one-under 71. Cobb is competing for just the second time this season.

Senior Giwon Suh (Orlando, Fla./Olympia) is tied for 16th at 72 (E). Junior David Johnson (Palm City, Fla./Melbourne) and sophomore Mike Stern (Miami, Fla./Killian) are tied for 22nd. Both players carded a one-over 73 on Sunday.

Two Memphis golfers and a pair of UAB players are among six individuals who are tied for first at four-under 68.

UCF is participating in the C-USA Championship for the third time. The Knights have recorded top-five finishes in three of their last four tournaments this season.
