Jacksonville, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - Lindsay Dean (Jacksonville, Fla.) annihilated a 1-2 pitch delivered by UNF's Tori Ahern with bases loaded to lead the UCF softball team to a, 7-0, win over North Florida Wednesday night at the UNF Softball Complex. The grand slam in the sixth inning was the first for the junior and her fourth home run of the season.

Cat Snapp (Niceville, Fla.) was 2-for-2 from the plate with a run scored for UCF, while five additional Knights recorded a hit in the contest, including Dean's home run in the sixth.

Allison Kime (Brandon, Fla.) earned the win in the circle for the Knights, allowing only two hits while striking out 11 in her seventh shutout of the year. The win was the 11th-consecutive and 18th of the year for the senior.

The contest turned into a pitcher's duel, with neither team able to cross the plate through five innings, but the Knights scored three runs in the top of the sixth inning, loading the bases with only one out. UNF starter Devyn Findley hit Lexi Gresham (Fresno, Calif.) with a pitch on a three-two count to put the Knights ahead by one run. Kime stepped up to the plate and blooped an infield single up the middle to plate the second runner of the inning, before Snapp took ball No. 4 to score Breanne Javier (Castaic, Calif.) from third. Dean took advantage of the RBI opportunity with two outs, crushing a grand-slam home run over the left field fence and giving UCF a seven-run cushion heading into the bottom of the inning.

Kime and the Knights defense held the Ospreys scoreless in the bottom of the seventh to seal the victory for the visiting team.

UCF returns home this weekend for a critical Conference USA series with No. 9 Houston at the UCF Softball Complex. Saturday's action gets underway at 1 p.m., while the series finale is set for Noon.
