NASHVILLE (www.ucfathletics.com) - The UCF track and field team battled cold conditions that included continual rainfall and temperatures in the 50s on Saturday to conclude the Vanderbilt Invitational. The two-day event was hosted by Vanderbilt University at the Vanderbilt Track and Field Complex.

The weekend's meet, much of which was contested in a driving rainstorm, included four personal-best marks or times by the Knights, one school record, and a top-two all-time individual time finish by senior Karen Kozub (Alden, N.Y.) in the 1,500-meter run on Friday evening.

"I am a little disappointed with our performances this weekend," UCF head coach Caryl Smith Gilbert said. "The weather was certainly a factor, but we don't want to blame the weather for the way we performed. We have to work on competing at our highest at every level. We need to go back to the drawing board this week in practice. We are excited about preparing for the Penn Relays this coming week."

The school's 4x100-meter relay team broke the school record in that event on Saturday with a time of 46.46. The relay team, consisting of Feyisara Adaramola (Bronx, N.Y.), Dione Thomas (Jacksonville, Fla.), Sheree Carter (Tallahassee, Fla.) and Micaela Wimberly (Miami, Fla.), broke the previous school record of 46.67 set in the 2006 season. It marks the sixth school record set this outdoor season under the direction of Smith Gilbert.

Carter ran a personal-best time of 14.37 (+0.0) in the 100-meter hurdles to provide UCF's lone individual PR on Saturday.

UCF staff assistant Alexis Joyce, who runs professionally, won the women's 100-meter dash as an unattached competitor, finishing in a time of 11.53. Adaramola and Thomas also competed in the event for the Knights on Saturday.

UCF returns to action April 23-26 when it travels to Philadelphia to participate in the prestigious Penn Relays.
