DALLAS, Texas (www.ucfathletics.com) - The UCF men's tennis team earned the fifth seed at the 2008 Conference USA Championship and will play UAB on Friday in the first round of play at the SMU Tennis Center in Dallas, Texas. First serve is set for 9 a.m. EST.
The Knights (11-8) ended their season with a win on Saturday against Jacksonville, 6-1, at the UCF Tennis Complex.
In UCF's two previous appearances at the C-USA Championship, the squad was the No. 5 seed and faced the Blazers in both contests. The two teams squared off earlier this year at the C-USA Shootout with the Blazers coming out victorious, 4-3.
Tulsa, ranked No. 9 nationally, is the top seed at the tournament. Rice, ranked 24th nationally, is the second seed, while host SMU is the third seed.
The semifinals will be held on Saturday at noon with the championship set for Sunday at 1 p.m. EST. The championship winner earns the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Championship.
