UCF Spring Football Game - Postgame Quotes

April 12, 2008

UCF Head Coach George O'Leary

"We had a chance to play everybody and play everybody for the whole game. We played 82 players and I thought we came out of it injury free, which is always a good sign for a spring game. Again, I thought the format was what we wanted to get done. I do not know how many plays we did run, but I thought that we got a chance to evaluate, which is what a spring game is all about."

What did you think about the atmosphere around the spring game today?
"It was the first time that we had a spring game [at Bright House Networks Stadium]and I think the big thing is that they showed up and enjoyed themselves. We probably could have made it more electrifying with a lot more razzle-dazzle plays, but I think we got a lot, myself included, a lot of conservative coaches. The big thing is that we have a lot more in the arsenal, obviously, that you don't show. I always look at the offense that has the power game, zone game and finesse game and we did not show any finesse game at all. There is a lot that can attack defenses and has given our defenses a lot of problems during the spring. I think we are well on our way to being a really good football team. We have three months to get stronger in a lot of positions."

Senior Offensive Lineman Patrick Brown

On the experience of the first spring game at Bright House Networks Stadium:
"It was good. I think that we drew the most fans that we have ever drawn for a spring game. It was a good atmosphere in going out there instead of the practice fields like we have this entire spring season. We got a chance to get on the field and in the locker room. It was just a good experience all around."

Senior Wide Receiver Rocky Ross
On the wide receiving group in the spring game:
"I felt like we gave great effort and there are a few things that need to be corrected like ball security. Those things will be corrected... we take pride in how we take care of the ball. Last year, we only had one fumble and that was mine in the conference championship game. Thankfully, it went out of bounds, but we take pride in holding on to the ball and that will not happen in the regular season."
