19th-Ranked Knights to Open Play in Kentucky Sunday

ORLANDO, Fla. (www.ucfathletitcs.com) - Coming off an impressive fifth-place finish at the Morris Williams Intercollegiate at the University of Texas Golf Club last week, the UCF men's golf team is hopeful for a second consecutive top-5 finish when it competes at the UK Bluegrass Invitational.

Kentucky will host the 15-team event at the Big Blue Course in Lexington, Ky.

The two-day event will begin Sunday, with each team scheduled to play 36 holes on opening day. The final round of play will conclude Monday with the remaining 18 holes.

The Knights are the top-ranked team in the field at No. 19 as reported by Golfstat. Kentucky (58), Eastern Kentucky (66), and Western Carolina (71) all rank in the top-100 nationally.

Akron, Ball State, Cincinnati, Missouri, Morehead State, Miami (Ohio), Murray State, Ohio, Samford, Toledo and Western Kentucky are also competing in the tournament.

Senior Giwon Suh (Orlando, Fla./Windermere) and junior David Johnson (Palm Bay, Fla./Melbourne) led the Knights to the fifth place finish at the Morris Williams Intercollegiate last week. Suh carded a 216 (+3) to tie for fourth, while Johnson registered a 217 (+4) to tie for eighth. Junior Greg Forest recorded his third straight top-20 finish with a score of 220 (+7).

Suh and Johnson will both be in action for the Knights in Kentucky. The pair will be joined by juniors Preston Brown (Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla./Nease) and Greg Forest (Palm City, Fla./Martin County) and sophomore Mike Stern (Miami, Fla./Killian).

Sophomore Nuno Henriques (Funchal, Portugal) will participate in the tournament as an individual.

This will be the first UK Bluegrass Invitational appearance for the Knights.
