UCF Softball Receives Seven Votes in USA Today/NFCA Top-25 Poll

April 8, 2008

Orlando, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - Following a Conference USA-series split with then-No. 9 Houston last weekend, the UCF softball team garnered seven votes in the USA Today/NFCA Division I Top-25 Poll released Tuesday. The votes mark the second time this season the Knights have received national recognition, as they received a vote in the March 25 poll during its season-high 13-game winning streak.

The Black and Gold is 32-15 on the season and hold down the second-place slot in C-USA with a 10-4 clip. It has won 18 of its last 21 games, while holding down a 13-game winning streak from March 15-April 2. The Knights have defeated two teams ranked in this week's USA Today/NFCA poll, No. 10 Houston and No. 16 Long Beach State, while also facing No. 6 Michigan and No. 20 Hawaii. UCF had also played four of the additional 10 teams receiving votes this week.

The Black and Gold also earned a pair of votes in the Ultimate College Softball (UCS) Top-25 Poll released Tuesday. The pair of nods is the first for the Knights in the poll, voted on by selected collegiate coaches and UCS posters.
