ORLANDO, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - Two important dates for the upcoming 2008 UCF football season were released on Wednesday as UCF Athletics' officials announced the dates for the Family Weekend and Homecoming contests.
The Knights will face SMU and new head coach June Jones on the Saturday of Family Weekend as the Mustangs visit Orlando for the first time on Oct. 4. UCF played SMU for the first time in school history in 2007, with the Knights defeating the Mustangs 49-20 in Dallas on Nov. 17.
The Knights were victorious in their first homecoming game at Bright House Networks Stadium a year ago, routing Marshall, 47-13. For the 2008 campaign, the Knights will once again face a Conference USA East Division foe as Southern Miss visits the new on-campus stadium for a Nov. 8 showdown.
UCF will hold its annual spring football game on Saturday, April 12 as part of the 2008 UCF Hall of Fame Weekend. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m. and the game will be played for the first time in Bright House Networks Stadium.
