ORLANDO, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - UCF's novice and lightweight 8+ boats were the only squads to get into the water Saturday at the Rollins Invitational on Lake Maitland. The rest of the action was cancelled due to high winds and very choppy water.
"We are looking forward to training this week, and getting back to work next weekend for the Rollins Spring Break Race March 15, which we have added to our schedule," said novice coach Andy Derrick.
The top novice 8+ boat participated in the varsity 8+ event and placed third behind Villanova and Nova Southeastern. Rollins College finished fourth with the UCF lightweights earning fifth place. Times were not available.
The Black and Gold heads back to Lake Maitland for the Rollins Spring Break Race Saturday, March 15. It then travels to Texas for the Longhorn Invitational March 22-23. The Knights also head to Jacksonville for the Petrakis Cup March 22.
