Renewing a Rivalry
Until three years ago, UCF and Georgia State were rivals in the Atlantic Sun Conference. Following the 2005 campaign, the Knights left the league for Conference USA. A year later, Georgia State joined the Colonial Athletic Association. On its way to the 2005 A-Sun title, UCF posted a 4-3 victory over the Panthers in the league championship semifinals in nearby DeLand. The squads have met once as non-conference foes with the Knights taking a 4-2 win against Georgia State in 2006 at the Boise State Red Lion Spring Break Tournament.
Follow the Leaders
A pair of Knights are among the Conference USA leaders in victories this year. Sophomore Johan Beigart (Vaxjo, Sweden) is tied for second at the No. 1 singles spot with a 3-1 mark. At No. 5, junior Tarek Ben Soltane (Tunis, Tunisia) is 3-0, good for second in the conference.
First serve for the Knights' matchup with Georgia State is set for 2 p.m. The contest with Tennessee Tech is slated for 9 a.m. Admission to all home matches at the UCF Tennis Complex is free.
