TAMPA, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - The UCF men's tennis team fell to No. 36 South Florida, 5-2, on Sunday afternoon at the USF Varsity Tennis Courts. The Knights dropped to 9-8 on the season, while the Bulls improved their mark to 12-4.

Despite losing at the No. 1 doubles spot, UCF battled back at No. 2.

Junior Brock Sakey (Gulf Breeze, Fla./Gulf Breeze) and Johan Beigart (Vaxjo, Sweden) took a close 8-7(4) victory against Lucas Jovita and Diego Toledo. The pair has won two-straight and eight of their last 10 matches.

However, the Bulls would take a win at court three for the doubles point.

"We fought against a really good South Florida team today," said UCF head coach Bobby Cashman. "I know we're going to get back to work and continue to improve for these last two regular season matches."

In singles action, UCF took wins at tilts three and five.

Beigart earned the Knights first point of the afternoon, defeating Jamaal Adderley, 6-2, 7-5, at No. 3.

Junior Tarek Ben Soltane (Tunis, Tunisia) earned his 10th win of the 2008 campaign, prevailing at No. 5, 6-4, 6-0, against Michael Nusslein.

The Knights return to the courts on Thursday for their match against No. 65 Florida Atlantic. First serve at UCF Tennis Complex is set for 2 p.m.

Admission to all UCF home matches is free.
