AUSTIN, Texas (www.ucfathletics.com) - The third and final day of the Longhorn Invitational wrapped up Sunday in Austin, and the UCF rowing team brought home two victories over host Texas on Lady Bird Lake. For the weekend, the Knights grabbed first place in 11 of 16 events.
Facing a north/northeast cross tailwind, the Knights opened up the morning by topping the Longhorns in the first novice 8+, posting a time of 6:54.9 for the win. After Texas notched a victory in the first varsity 4+, UCF came back for a seven-second triumph in the second varsity 8+.
In the final race for the Black and Gold, UCF fell just short of a victory in the first varsity 8+, as Texas won by just .8 seconds with a time of 6:48.3.
UCF will have a week to prepare for its first home regatta of the year, as the Knights host Miami Saturday at Lake Pickett.
