ON THE ROAD AGAIN
After playing just two matches at the UCF Tennis Complex, the squad jumps back on the road again to face four teams from California. UCF's first test comes today against Montana State in San Diego. On Wednesday, the Knights face Cal Poly and then play No. 67 San Diego on Thursday, both matches also in San Diego. The fourth match of the road trip includes a battle against another ranked team in No. 53 UC Irvine.
The team has only played three total matches away from home this season, not including matches at neutral sites.
PLAYING TO PERFECTION
Junior Tarek Ben Soltane (Tunis, Tunisia) won his two matches this past week to improve to 6-0 this spring. Ben Soltane is 3-0 at both No. 4 and No. 5 in singles.
Early last week, Ben Soltane blew past Georgia State's William Adeimy, 6-1, 6-3, at court four. His sixth win of the season came against No. 51 Tennessee Tech's Giovanni Vaglietti. Despite falling in the first set, 6-4, the junior battled back to win the second and third sets with identical 6-2 marks.
Ben Soltane also earned two wins in doubles this past week with freshman Blaze Schwartz. The duo knocked off Georgia State's Aleksandar Elezovic and Ross Hopper, 8-4, at No. 3 and then rolled to an 8-1 win against Tennessee Tech's James Crawford and Mario Gutierrez.
