ORLANDO, Fla. - The UCF women's basketball team assisted with the the UCF KnightWalk for Babies, part of the March of Dimes, this past Sunday to help raise awareness about premature babies.
Head coach Joi Williams was the featured speaker at the event and each of the team's student-athletes assisted with the set-up of the event.
The KnightWalk was started two years ago with the goal of raising money for March of Dimes research. Heading into this year's event, the KnightWalk had raised $18,000 for the cause over its two-year history.
Prematurity is the number one killer of newborns. In fact, each year, 29,287 babies in Florida suffer the consequences of being born too soon.
