DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - The UCF men's tennis team cruised to a 6-1 victory against Bethune-Cookman Saturday afternoon at the City Island Tennis Complex. The win gave the Knights their first victory on the road this season, improving the team's record to 2-2. The Wildcats fell to 0-4 on the season.

"We have to keep improving," said UCF head coach Bobby Cashman. "We're getting better in some areas, but have to continue to improve in others if we are going to meet the expectations we set as a team this season."

In doubles, UCF won at all three positions. Junior Brock Sakey (Gulf Breeze, Fla./Gulf Breeze) and sophomore Johan Beigart (Vaxjo, Sweden) took an 8-1 decision at the No. 1 spot against Stefan James and Emil Vassilev.

Senior Sinan Sudas (Adana, Turkey) and freshman Claudio Romano (Valencia, Venezuela) clinched the doubles point for UCF with an 8-2 victory at No. 3 against Kristofer Martin and Jerome Ward.

The Knights won five of the six singles matches in straight sets.

Romano clinched the match for the Knights, prevailing 6-3, 6-2 against James at the No. 3 spot. The win gave the freshman his second of the season.

At No. 5, junior Danny Colon (Jacksonville, Fla./Englewood) took a 6-4, 6-1 victory against Jerome Ward. Colon has won singles victories in back-to-back matches.

The Knights improved to 9-0 all-time against the Wildcats.
