UCF Men's Tennis Takes Trip to Bethune-Cookman

ORLANDO, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - The UCF men's tennis team takes a trip to Daytona Beach on Saturday to battle Bethune-Cookman at noon. The Knights ended the two-match homestand at the UCF Tennis Complex with a 1-1 mark.

UCF (1-2) fell in its last match on Saturday against Stetson, 6-1. Junior Danny Colon (Jacksonville, Fla./Englewood) earned the lone point for the Knights at the No. 6 singles spot. Colon took the first set 6-4 against Christopher Swanteson, but dropped the second 7-5. The third set went to a tiebreak where the Jacksonville native pulled out a 7-5 victory for the point.

In doubles, UCF dropped 8-3 and 8-4 decisions at Nos. 2 and 3, respectively. Junior Brock Sakey (Gulf Breeze, Fla./Gulf Breeze) and sophomore Johan Beigart (Vaxjo, Sweden) took a shortened 5-2 victory at No. 1 against Marcus Echtler and Swanteson.

The Wildcats (0-3) are coming off a 7-0 loss on Tuesday at the hands of North Florida.

In 2007, UCF cruised past Bethune-Cookman, 7-0, in both squads' first match of the season.

UCF is 8-0 all-time against the Wildcats.

The Knights continue their second of five tilts on the road with a test against No. 24 Miami on Feb. 15.
