Orlando, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - Leading up to the UCF softball season-opener against Illinois State on Feb. 8, UCFAtheltics.com will introduce fans to the Knights in a series of feature interviews. The series continues with junior catcher Lindsay Dean. The native of Jacksonville, Fla., discusses her team's biggest strength and the team she is most looking forward to playing in 2008.
With the season closely approaching, what are the team's goals for the 2008 season?
Our main goal is to win the Conference USA Championship, but we also want to win a majority of our conference games and have a better season than last year.
What are your personal goals for this season?
My goal for the season is to improve my hitting. I have improved every year and I want to keep that on track.
What do you see as this teams' biggest strength?
I think our team's biggest strength is our defense as a whole. We are a tight unit and we are looking very solid.
What have you tried to improve upon since last season?
I've tried to improve on my hitting. Also, I have been working on my throw downs to second base because I want to try to get more people out every year.
Which team on the 2008 schedule are you most looking forward to playing and why?
Even though everyone is saying Houston, I'm going to have to say East Carolina mostly because when we played down there last season we didn't have a very good showing. They are also our first C-USA team that we play this year.
Do you have any game superstitions?
I have a certain way I warm up on deck before I go and hit.
What is your most embarrassing moment on the softball field?
In a game, I was throwing down to second base and I tripped over my shin guard and totally ate it in front of everyone.
Who is the goofiest person on the team?
Breanne Javier
Who is the most motherly on the team?
Lexi Gresham
If you could go on a date with any celebrity who would it be?
Well I am taken, but if I had to choose I would say Vin Diesel.
What is one thing that most people don't know about you?
I am double-jointed in my fingers.
