UCF Fastbreak - Feb. 25

Feb. 25, 2008

ORLANDO, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - Junior guard Jermaine Taylor (Tavares, Fla./Tavares) has been one of the top players in Conference USA this season. His stellar offensive campaign has not gone unnoticed by media members who cover the league.

On two occasions, Taylor has been named the conference's player of the week. The honoree is selected each Monday by a group of media members who cover the league.

Taylor currently ranks third in C-USA in scoring at 21.3 points per game. Against league opponents, he is also third in scoring (22.9) and eighth in field-goal percentage (52.3).

In an effort to promote Taylor for a spot on the All-C-USA Team at the end of the year, the UCF athletics communications office has recently added a short video with some of his highlights from the campaign on www.ucfathletics.com.

The video, which was produced by Nate Kalaf of the UCF video services staff, features some of Taylor's top dunks and shots of the year. The clip can be accessed by clicking on the UCF Knights All-Access media player on the web site's main page.

In two previous years in C-USA, the Knights have had one player earn all-conference honors as Josh Peppers was named to the second team in 2006-07.

Select media members in each C-USA city and the league's head coaches vote for the conference's postseason awards.

Taylor will have another chance to impress when the Knights host Tulane on Wednesday. The game at the new UCF Arena has a 7 p.m. tip-off time. For ticket information, call 407-UCF-1000.

Notes: With four regular-season games remaining on the year, UCF is tied for fourth in the C-USA standings with UTEP and Southern Miss. All three teams have a 7-5 league record. The Knights defeated both Southern Miss and UTEP in January... In 2007-08, the Knights are 10-4 at home. Against C-USA foes, they are averaging 92.5 points in Orlando.
