ORLANDO, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - UCF was not at home very long as the women's tennis team took down North Florida, 6-1, Wednesday at the UCF Tennis Complex. The Knights now get back on the road when it tangles with Jacksonville Saturday at noon.
The Black and Gold improved its record to 3-4 thanks to its win over the Ospreys. UCF claimed all three doubles matches and earned three three-set victories in singles. Meanwhile, Jenny Frisell and Kyla McNicol picked up straight-set triumphs, as Frisell recorded her team-high 10th win of the season. Over in doubles, the Knights have a .630 winning percentage, as Kenza Belbacha and Anna Yakimchenkova have won their last three matches together.
Jacksonville enters the weekend with a 3-2 mark after victories over Florida A&M, Georgia Southern and Hofstra. In the Dolphins' last time out, a 6-1 win against Hofstra, JU cruised to a sweep in doubles action and lost its only point at the No. 4 singles position.
UCF has dominated the series with Jacksonville, holding a 24-3 all-time record vs. the Dolphins. However, the Black and Gold dropped a 5-2 decision in last year's meeting. Only three other teams have battled the Knights more than JU: Stetson (42), Rollins (30) and Florida Atlantic (30).
