Feb. 2, 2008

ORLANDO, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - The UCF men's tennis team returns home to square off with Florida Gulf Coast on Sunday. First serve at the UCF Tennis Complex is set for noon.

On Friday, the Knights (0-1) fell to No. 13 Florida, 7-0, in Gainesville.

In doubles play, UCF kept both the No. 1 and No. 2 spots close.

Junior Brock Sakey (Gulf Breeze, Fla./Gulf Breeze) and sophomore Johan Beigart (Vaxjo, Sweden), a duo that finished 3-1 this fall, dropped an 8-5 decision to Jeff Dadamo and Tyler Hochwalt at No. 1.

Senior Sinan Sudas (Adana, Turkey) and freshman Claudio Romano (Valencia, Venezuela) took Greg Ouellette and Johnny Hamui down to the wire, but lost, 8-6, at No. 2.

Florida Gulf Coast played at the NCAA Division II level last season, but is now in its first year in the Atlantic Sun. The Eagles finished the 2007 season ranked 14th nationally and made a trip to the second round of the NCAA Southeast Region.

Florida Gulf Coast plays its first dual-match of the season today at 2 p.m. against Bethune-Cookman in Daytona Beach.

UCF is taking on the Eagles for the first time in program history.

Admission to all UCF home matches is free.
