Feb. 15, 2008

Orlando, FL (www.UCFAthletics.com) - The complete UCF 2008 football schedule should be available soon. Nonetheless, the dates for the Knights' four non-conference opponents next season have been finalized. Game times will be available closer to the fall semester in August.

UCF will open the season with FCS and MEAC opponent South Carolina State on Saturday, August 30 at Bright House Networks Stadium. The Bulldogs wrapped up their second consecutive 7-4 season in 2007. The team finished tied for second in the MEAC with a 6-2 league mark, its second straight season placing second.

Next up, will be USF on Friday, September 5 at Bright House Networks Stadium. The Bulls, who were ranked as high as No. 2 nationally, finished the 2007 season with a 9-4 overall record and 4-3 in Big East play. The team played in third consecutive bowl game in 2007, the Brut Sun Bowl vs. Oregon.

UCF will play an Atlantic Coast Conference representative for the second consecutive season when it travels to Chestnut Hill, Mass., to take on Boston College on Saturday, September 20. Last year, BC had perhaps one of their greatest all-time seasons finishing 11-3 and defeating Michigan State in the Champs Sports Bowl in Orlando. The team had been ranked as high as No. 2 in the country after rallying to beat Virginia Tech in late October. But it ended the regular season losing three of five, including a rematch with the Hokies in the ACC title game in Jacksonville.

The Knights conclude non-conference action when they travel south for the first time to take on the University of Miami Hurricanes at Dolphin Stadium on Saturday, October 11. Despite finishing 5-7 in 2007, UM put together one of the nation's top recruiting classes. Several players on the UM roster call South Florida their home and should make for a great homecoming occassion
