ORLANDO, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - UCF fans have been eagerly awaiting the upcoming baseball season, and when they venture to Jay Bergman Field for the 2008 opener vs. Florida A&M Feb. 22 they will be greeted by a brand new scoreboard in right-center field.

"The credit goes to our administration for getting this done," said head coach Jay Bergman. "This will enable our fans to really become more involved with the players and our program. This is the first step towards the improvements that we are planning to make for future stadium completion."

Beginning on Feb. 4, the original scoreboard was dismantled and on Wednesday all that was left were the steel beams that held it up. It had been in place dating back to the 2001 season when Jay Bergman Field was constructed.

The Knights' updated scoreboard will measure 38' wide by 32.5' high, and will feature a traditional display board, two LED video/graphic displays, six backlit advertising panels, the facility's name and the UCF script logo at the top (The Knight head logo currently appears on the rendering). There also will be a pitch-speed display for fans to check out.

The new board is being manufactured and installed by Capturion, Inc. of Laurel, Miss. The main video board measures 22' by 11' with 20mm full color LED display, while the bottom video board stands at 36' by 3' with 22mm full color LED display. The scoreboard itself is 36' by 9'4" with amber LED modules.

UCF's scoreboard will be operational for the season-opener Feb. 22, while the video/graphics displays will be installed shortly afterwards.
