ORLANDO, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - With a 15-4-4 record in 2007, the UCF women's soccer team received national attention all season long. And in the final rankings of the year, Soccer Buzz voted the Knights at No. 30 in its final poll. Meanwhile, UCF earned votes in two separate top-25 rankings as well.
Head coach Amanda Cromwell's program made its 12th appearance in the NCAA Tournament in 2007, defeating Auburn, 3-1, in the first round and tied No. 6 Florida, 0-0, in the second round before falling on penalty kicks. During the regular season, the Knights tied No. 11 Florida State, which advanced to the national championship match, and shut out six of eight Conference USA regular-season opponents en route to a share of the league title.
UCF led all of C-USA with seven player of the week honors, while senior goalkeeper Jennifer Manis was named the C-USA Defensive Player of the Year and junior forward Danielle Dos Santos was voted as the C-USA Newcomer of the Year.
Along with being ranked in Soccer Buzz's top 30, UCF received votes in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America top-25 poll, as well as in the Soccer Times rankings.
