ORLANDO, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - With over a week between matches, the UCF women's tennis team took advantage of the break when it met local youth tennis players from the MaliVai Washington Kids Foundation at the UCF Tennis Complex Jan. 26.
The Knights invited all of the kids to watch the men's match vs. Rice, which was unfortunately cancelled due to rain. However, they were still given a tour of what UCF tennis is all about and were able to enjoy the atmosphere that surrounds the Black and Gold student-athletes and coaches.
The MaliVai Washington Kids Foundation is a non-profit group based in Jacksonville, Fla., and works with youths of all ages, encouraging them to work hard and attend college. The kids spend a lot of time on the tennis court and eventually develop into high school players or very good recreational athletes. The foundation was created in 1994 by former Wimbledon finalist MaliVai Washington, and has helped over 14,000 youths in the Jacksonville area since.
UCF returns to the courts when it opens the home season Sunday with a 9:30 a.m. match-up vs. Florida Gulf Coast.
