Jan. 28, 2008

Orlando, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - Leading up to the UCF softball season-opener against Illinois State on Feb. 8, UCFAtheltics.com will introduce fans to the Knights in a series of feature interviews. The series continues with junior first baseman Breanne Javier. The native of Castaic, Calif., discusses her goals for the season and her team's strength.

With the season closely approaching, what are the team's goals for the 2008 season?
Our team goal is to win the Conference USA Championship and go to Regionals. Anything past that would be great.

What are your personal goals for this season?
I want to be consistent with my hitting throughout the entire season and I just want to help make my team better.

What do you see as this team's biggest strength?
We have very good team chemistry and our defense has been looking stellar since the start of practice.

What have you tried to improve upon since last season?
I've tried to improve on my hitting by just being more consistent.

Which team on the 2008 schedule are you most looking forward to playing and why?
I'm most looking forward to playing Houston because I just want to beat them.

Do you have any game superstitions?
I have to put my uniform on a certain way.

What is your most embarrassing moment on the softball field?
I was sliding into home one time and instead of sliding I tripped and did a face plant. Everyone saw me and made fun of me for it. So that was kind of embarrassing.

Who is the goofiest person on the team?
Ashley Van Ryn

Who is the most motherly on the team?
Megan Murphy

If you could go on a date with any celebrity who would it be?
Paul Walker. He is my dream man.

If you could be any T.V. show character who would you be and why?
I would be Dr. Bailey from Grey's Anatomy because she is funny, witty and she is in charge.

What is one thing that most people don't know about you?
I am Pilipino. I am not Hawaiian, Samoan or an Eskimo.

The team will make its 2008 debut at the UCF Softball Complex when they host the UCF Tournament Feb. 8-10 facing-off against Illinois State, NC State, Kansas and Central Arkansas. Season tickets for the 2008 season are now available and can be purchased by calling 407-UCF-1000.
