Orlando, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - Leading up to the UCF softball season-opener against Illinois State on Feb. 8, UCFAtheltics.com will introduce fans to the Knights in a series of feature interviews. The series continues with senior pitcher Allison Kime. The native of Brandon, Fla., discusses her goals for the season and her most embarrassing moment on the diamond.
With the season closely approaching, what are the team's goals for the 2008 season?
Our team goal is to win the Conference USA Championship and move on to Regionals.
What are your personal goals for this season?
I don't really know. I just want to win, that's all I really care about.
What do you see as this teams' biggest strength?
I think that we get along really well and that will help us on the field because we can all communicate and know where everyone is.
What have you tried to improve upon since last season?
I've tried to improve on my hitting and being more consistent pitching. I'm trying to not throw a lot of balls and have been working on hitting my corners.
Which team on the 2008 schedule are you most looking forward to playing and why?
I'm most looking forward to playing Houston because they are always on the top, and I want to prove to everyone that we deserve to be the No. 1 team in C-USA.
Do you have any game superstitions?
I have to drink a Dr. Pepper and eat a Snickers bar before every game.
What is your most embarrassing moment on the softball field?
I would definitely say it was last year when we were playing Marshall and I struck out Rachel Folden. I got so excited that I jumped up and tripped on my shoelaces and did a face plant right in the middle of the field.
Who is the goofiest person on the team?
Ashley Van Ryn
Who is the most motherly on the team?
Coach Coffman
If you could go on a date with any celebrity who would it be?
Probably Nick Lachey.
If you could be any T.V. show character who would you be and why?
Brook Davis from One Tree Hill, because she owns her own fashion line and I think that would be really cool.
What is one thing that most people don't know about you?
That I'm part Potawatomi Indian
