Jan. 22, 2008

Orlando, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - Leading up to the UCF softball season-opener against Illinois State on Feb. 8, UCFAtheltics.com will introduce fans to the Knights in a series of feature interviews. The series begins with sophomore pitcher Ashleigh Cole. The native of Pace, Fla., discusses the season, her teammates and her game superstition.

With the season closely approaching, what are the team's goals for the 2008 season?
I know one of our team goals is to win conference and go as far as we can. The other is to win every conference series that we play in.

What are your personal goals for this season?
I just want to do my part and help out the team.

What have you tried to improve on since last season?
I have really tried to improve on everything. Practice really helps you improve by getting repetitions at your position and making adjustments.

What do you see as this teams' biggest strength?
Probably our heart. We really love the game and put all of our effort into everything that we do, even at practice.

Which team on the 2008 schedule are you most looking forward to playing and why?
Probably the Olympic team, just because of who they are. I am pretty excited about that.

Do you have any game superstitions?
Well, during the game we don't let the bats cross. It's said that if they do then the team won't hit very well.

Who is the goofiest person on the team?
Diana, she's goofy.

Who is the most motherly on the team?
Cat

The team will make its 2008 debut at the UCF Softball Complex when they host the UCF Tournament Feb. 8-10 facing-off against Illinois State, NC State, Kansas and Central Arkansas. Season tickets for the 2008 season are now available and can be purchased by calling 407-UCF-1000.
