FT. MYERS, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - Day two of Florida Gulf Coast's MLK/Johan Kriek Classic witnessed another impressive performance from the UCF women's tennis team Sunday. The Knights swept all four doubles matches against Stetson, then took six of seven singles contest against the host Eagles.

The Black and Gold went a combined 9-4 on day one of the event, which features a dual-match format with points being awarded for each individual victory.

"It was very cold and windy today," said head coach Stephanie Nickitas. "The conditions were very horrible, but we did a great job at adjusting and working with the weather. I am extremely happy with the results from both our doubles and singles matches, and I hope we can finish the tournament even stronger tomorrow."

In the four doubles match-ups vs. Stetson, UCF only surrendered eight games en route to four victories. Senior Jennifer Carati and junior Elvira Serrot teamed up at the No. 1 position, senior Kyla McNicol and freshman Jenny Frisell worked together at No. 2, senior Anna Yakimchenkova and junior Kenza Belbacha held down the No. 3 spot and junior Adrienne Roesler and freshman Isa Ohlinger partnered at No. 4 to help the Knights earn the sweep.

Taking on Florida Gulf Coast later in the afternoon in singles, Frisell, McNicol, Belbacha, Yakimchenkova and Ohlinger all posted straight-set wins, while Serrot battled back from a set down to defeat Maria Maggiorini at No. 1, 4-6, 6-4, 1-0(10-5).

Action in Ft. Myers wraps up Monday when UCF battles Dartmouth in doubles at 9 a.m. and No. 31 Florida International in singles at 1 p.m.
