Conference USA Release in PDF Format
ORLANDO, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - Freshman sprinter Lizzie Harris (Miami, Fla.) and junior jumper Dione Thomas (Jacksonville, Fla.) rank first in Conference USA in their respective events, according to the league statistics released on Tuesday by the conference office.
Harris, competing in her first collegiate event this weekend at the Virginia Tech Invitational in Blacksburg, Va., placed first in the 400-meter dash, just missing an NCAA provisional mark by finishing in 56.36. She also was second in the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.48. Her time in the 200-meter dash is the best in Conference USA so far this season, while her 400-meter time ranks fourth in the league.
Thomas posted a lifetime personal-best mark in the long jump with a leap of 19-9, which topped her previous best mark of 19-8.75 and gave her the event title at the Virginia Tech Invitational. That long-jump mark ranks as the best in C-USA so far this year. Thomas's performance, which earned her UCF Track and Field Athlete of the Week honors on Monday, was listed as one of the league's notable performances in its weekly notebook.
