Taylor Garners C-USA Player of the Week Award

IRVING, Texas (www.ucfathletics.com) - After leading the Knights to a 2-0 start in league play, UCF junior guard Jermaine Taylor (Tavares, Fla./Tavares) was selected as the Conference USA Men's Basketball Player of the Week, the conference office announced on Monday. Taylor averaged 20.5 points and 8.5 rebounds in a pair of UCF victories.

He totaled a game-high 28 points in a career-best 49 minutes in UCF's 97-91 triple-overtime win against Tulsa on Saturday. Taylor scored seven points in the final overtime. In the victory, Taylor hit four 3-pointers and grabbed a career-best nine boards. The shooting guard also led all players with four steals.

In UCF's 52-41 victory at Southern Miss on Tuesday, Taylor scored 13 points and paced all players with eight rebounds.

The league player of the week honor was the second of the season for Taylor.

On the year, he paces UCF and ranks fourth in C-USA in points per game (20). Taylor has recorded 20-point performances 11 times in 2007-08 and has led the Knights in scoring on 13 occasions.

UCF (9-7, 2-0 C-USA) returns to action on Saturday at East Carolina. The squad's next home contest at the new UCF Arena is set for Jan. 23 against UTEP.
