Tulsa, Okla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - Marshay White (Rochester, N.Y.) posted a team-high 14 points despite the UCF women's basketball team falling to Tulsa, 65-59, at the Reynolds Center Sunday afternoon. Three additional Knights registered double-digits in points with D'Nay Daniels (Atlanta, Ga.) scoring 13 and Tia Lewis (Poulan, Ga.) and Emma Cannon (Rochester, N.Y.) adding 10 points apiece.

Lewis led all rebounders and tied her career-high with 16 rebounds on the afternoon to record her 11th double-double of the season. Jackie Akers (Cape Coral, Fla.) grabbed seven rebounds in her first start of the season, and Cannon had five boards off of the bench for the Knights.

With the loss UCF falls to 7-9 on the season and 0-3 in Conference USA action. The Golden Hurricane improved its record to 7-9 overall and 3-0 in league games.

The Knights shot .375 from the field and .778 from the free throw line in the contest, including a .900 clip in the second half.

UCF jumped out to an early 11-4 lead just under four minutes into the game, before a layup by Daniels at 10:19 put the Knights up by 10 points, 21-11. A 7-0 run from the Golden Hurricane cut the UCF lead to just three, 25-22, with 3:25 left in the opening period.

UCF held on to its lead and at the conclusion of the first half headed to the locker room with a 30-26 advantage. The Knights never trailed the home team throughout the entire opening period.

Daniels paced the Black and Gold in the opening half with nine points, while Lewis added eight points and nine rebounds for the visitors.

Tulsa opened the second half with a 13-0 run, taking its first lead of the game at 19:00 mark and never giving it up. A free throw by White at the 2:16 mark pulled the Black and Gold to within 3 points, but four Tulsa free throws down the stretch put the game out of reach for UCF.

The Golden Hurricane was led by a game-high 17 points from Larrissa Williams and 11 points from Kara Vaughn.

The Knights entertain Houston at the new UCF Arena in a Conference USA match-up Thursday, Jan. 17. Tip-off for the contest is scheduled for 7 p.m.
