UCF Women's Basketball Concludes Road Trip at Tulsa

Tulsa, Okla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - The UCF women's basketball team concludes its two-game road-trip Sunday afternoon when they take on Tulsa at the Reynolds Center at 3 p.m. ET.

The Series
Sunday's meeting is the third between the two teams, with each squad posting a win. In their last battle, the Knights pulled away from the Golden Hurricane, 75-69, at the old UCF Arena. Francine Houston made eight three-pointers on her way to scoring a career-high 34 points in the victory, while Amber Long grabbed a team-high nine rebounds for the Knights.

Last Outing
Despite getting a team-high 13 points from freshman Marshay White (Rochester, N.Y.), the UCF women's basketball team fell to SMU, 90-62, Friday night at the Moody Coliseum. Tia Lewis (Poulan, Ga.) added 12 points and 12 rebounds for her 10th double-double of the season, while Emma Cannon (Rochester, N.Y.) had 10 points and seven rebounds for the Knights.

The Knights entertain Houston at the new UCF Arena in a Conference USA match-up Thursday night. Tip-off for the contest is scheduled for 7 p.m.

Scoring Big
After leading her team with 13 points in the game agianst SMU Friday night, Marshay White has scored in double-digits in four of her last five outings, including a career-high 23 points against Appalachian State at the UCF Holiday Classic. The freshman guard is averaging 10.5 points per game on the season.

Starting for Your UCF Knights
Head coach Joi Williams has used a total of seven different starting line-ups through the Knights' first 15 games, with Tia Lewis the only player to recieve the starting nod in every contest. Angelica Mealing, Chelsie Wiley, Jelisa Caldwell, Emma Cannon, D'Nay Daniels and Marshay White have been mixed into the starting five.

Back in the Lineup
Down 47-25 with 2:37 to play in the first half of the Knight's game at SMU, UCF put together a 7-0 run to end the opening period behind five points from Jackie Akers (Cape Coral, Fla.). Akers returned to the lineup for the first time Friday after missing four games due to injury. The junior finished the contest with seven points, five rebounds and three blocked shots in 23 minutes of work.

Previewing Tulsa
The Golden Hurricane hold a 6-9 overall record and are perfect in Conference USA play with a 2-0 record, recording wins over both Southern Miss and SMU. In their meeting with the Mustangs, Freshman Tatum Beer's layup with 1:21 left in regulation forced overtime and the Golden Hurricane rallied for a 75-62 victory over SMU on Saturday afternoon. Tulsa also used a last-second shot to defeat the Golden Eagles when Larrissa Williams knocked in her 18th point of the night with just seven seconds to go to give Tulsa a 63-62 victory over Southern Miss on Friday night.

Tulsa is led by Williams who is averaging a double-double with 12.9 points and 10.2 rebounds per game. Beer paces the Golden Hurricane with 45 assists and 26 steals, while averaging 33.7 minutes per contest.
