Orlando, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - UCF cheerleader Dinah Schierer (Stuart, Fla.) is one of six finalists for the American Cheerleader Magazine "Cheerleader of the Year" award, and now its up to UCF fans to determine the winner. Schierer, who was featured on the cover of the June 2007 issue of the magazine, joins five other cheerleaders who graced the cover of the publication as "Cheerleader of the Month" over the course of the year.
This is the first time a cheerleader from UCF has been nominated for the award. Fans can determine the winner by voting by visiting www.americancheerleader.com/coy and clicking on the "vote" button.
Not only is the junior cheerleader preparing to perform with her team at Disney's Wide World of Sports for the 2008 UCA Cheerleading & Dance Team National Championship on Jan. 19, but Schierer also appears in the just-released DVD, Bring It On: In It to Win It, the latest installment of the Bring It On franchise, and is also being filmed, along with her teammates, for the hit reality show "Cheerleader U" on We TV.
The reality show has been trailing Schierer and the Knights since May and will conclude with UCF competing at the National Championship in hopes of defending their 2007 National Championship title.
